Colours On A Palette

Have you ever heard the story
Of the dried colours on a colourful palette
The story of promise broken
The story of falling from grace

I wish I could bring them alive…
To paint a butterfly’s dreams
To take flight on the rainbow highway
To give their shriveled lives a purpose

Do they ever wish…
To be part of someone’s masterpiece
To always bask in reflected glory…
What is their purpose

I wish there were odes written to them
Odes to life spent in being the wind beneath other’s wings
Forgotten and dried up…
Yet colourful in its anonymity…

its awesome....i love painting....not that i do always...but anyway....you've touched d soothing chord of mine....its beautiful...colours dont need special expressions...they are more than enough to express themselves...the depth of your symbolism is very difficult to measure....its a different stroke...a unique color this time...i love it...keep writing

A marked change in your mood....Not only is this poem very good, but I'm also glad to see a new colour in your style of writing.....

Ah, the story of could-have-beens, of regret and of the ones who didn't make it...

'Second-hander's are always a rather colourful bunch. They feed off the colour in others and then, when that is gone, shrivel up and dry.

I would not spare a moment imbuing these lost 'colours' with life, for it is something that they would never value. They deserve to be forgotten.

I loved this poem!

the dried colours that wanted to be of use...those colours wanted to be a part of the picture/ painting....but alas, no one spared a thought for them

Those tiny pigments of the various hues
On the pallete shrivelled up they lay..
They had a life too
Which was ripped away from them.
Their sacrifice it was said
Would highlight another's dream..
But didn't they have a dream too?
Or is it that living life is not for all!
